16 of the best: My most anticipated films of 2016

Here are the top 16 films that I’m looking forward to next year, of the ones that I find interesting.

16 – Ghostbusters

A new Ghostbusters film is one thing, but with four funny women, it’s the new generation of SNL.

15 – Independence Day: Resurgence

I can’t say we needed a new ID film, but the trailer was kind of cool, so lets be hopeful. Alas no Will Smith.

14 – Deadpool

The greatest 4th wall breaking, swearing, violent hero we’ve been waiting for.

13 – Star Trek: Beyond

As a big Star Trek fan, I want more Star Trek. The first JJ Abrams film was incredible, I just hope it’s better than Into Darkness.

12 – Life on the Road

It’s been many years since we last saw David Brent, it’ll be interesting to see if the film can still balance the awkward humour and pathos of the series.

11 – The Revenant

It had an awesome trailer, and it looks beautiful. Could be a really visceral experience.

10 – Kubo and the Two Strings

Another beautiful film from Laika, that seems like a homage to Eastern culture. Perfect combination.

9 – Moana

South Pacific, diverse characters. Cannot wait.

8 – Suicide Squad

If only for Margot Robbies Harley Quinn. Dark, twisted and fascinating. Long live the villain.

7 -X-Men: Apocalypse

First Class and Days of Future Past were both great successes. Lets hope this success continues.

6 – The Witch

New England Witch horror, colour me terrified and excited.

5 – High Rise

It looks like Snowpiercer meets Dread, with Tom Hiddleston. Directed by Ben Wheatley. Yes!

4 – Captain America: Civil War

The Captain America films are the best of the MCU cannon, and this one promises to be the most incredible yet.

3 – Rogue One

rogue one

A diverse cast including a woman as the lead, a director who at the very least has a beautiful style, and the next Star Wars film after the superb The Force Awakens. Can’t wait.

2 – Fantastic Beasts and where to find them

Not just a return to the Harry Potter world, but during the 1920’s in New York, with a script from JK Rowling. Perfect.

1 – Finding Dory

©2013 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

As a Pixar completest and with a bottomless ocean of love for Finding Nemo, I very much look forward to this. If it captures the style and warmth of the first film, it will be a success.
