If it weren’t for The Doctor’s fantastic, pretty much a, monologue near the end of this episode, it would simply be another, “it was alright” episode. It’s a lot of are they a Zygon or a Human, like last week’s episode but with added dreams. Jenna Coleman is good, but has no real meat to anything she does, and Osgood is a fine, if a bit less interesting than her ‘Day of the Doctor’ role.
Peter Capaldi is excellent in his massive scene near the end, talking about war, and the pain he’s had to face. It’s Bafta deserving surely. His Doctor has grown on me more and more, especially this season, now that his rougher edges have been sanded down.
Overall, it was perfectly fine. Not annoying, except in one instance of laughable human to Zygon transformation, and it had good production values as usual.
But yeah, it was fine. Next weeks looks very ambiguous as to what it’s actually about, which is a bit annoying. Clara’s going soon too, which will be interesting to see.
That’s it really.
